Mutton Snapper for dinner! |
This island is very different than Cave and Cash Cays, and others that we have seen on this journey. Lush green vegetation, high bluffs, lots of birds, and dolphin that drop by to visit us every day.
Yesterday's adventure, sparked by flat seas and calm winds, took us to the NE side of the island, where we discovered 30 ft. high bluff, clear waters, and fish. Lots of fish. Like the Mutton Snapper pictured above.
Brenda found a skull lying in the shallows, most likely from a Loggerhead sea turtle.
We've decided to move Pandion over to this new location today, in anticipation of continuing winds from the NE this week. The basin here has a hard bottom that makes it difficult for our anchor to hold in high winds; the new location looks to have much better (sand) conditions.
