| Persephone, a two-masted schooner permanently moored at Flo's. |
We discovered Flo's, a small restaurant located on Little Harbour Cay in the Berry Islands, through the comments left by cruisers on Active Captain in our Garmin Bluechart. Not easy to get to, but that made it an adventure, so we called Chester on his cell phone and made reservations for lunch.
Chester, who was born on Nassau and spent most his life in the Berry Islands, filled us in on the story of the ruins that we had stumbled upon while exploring nearby Lizard Island the day before. The remaining foundation was all that was left of a large home built by an Englishman and a Scotsman many years ago, only to have two hurricanes wipe the structure out with storm surge.

Flo's reminded us of a beach bar/grill from the Florida Keys of thirty years ago. Signed dollar bills and crew shirts stapled to the walls, shells lined up along the window shelves, ocean breezes coming through the open windows, and great views of the surrounding islands from their location about 60 feet above sea level (OK, that last not like the Keys).

The food was good, but the ice cold beers were the best :) We were joined by several other groups off nearby boats, and the small place was soon full up.
On our way back, we met a father and son who had travelled to the Berry Islands onboard a 30 ft. center console powerboat from the U.S. When I asked how they managed their Gulf stream crossing, he pointed to their three huge outboard engines and explained the virtues of "go fast" boats.
Pandion is not a go fast boat, and we are happy about that!
